MTCA warns of fraudulent tax refund websites impersonating official portal
The Malta Tax and Customs Administration urges the public to avoid providing personal information, payment details or other sensitive data on unofficial websites
The Malta Tax and Customs Administration warned the public about fraudulent websites impersonating its official website.
People have reported receiving notifications regarding their Tax Refund from sites such as https://mtca.im/mt and https://mtca.lat/mt.
The MTCA informed the public that its online website is https://mtca.gov.mt.
It further urged the public to avoid providing personal information, payment details or other sensitive data on unofficial websites, and to verify that they are accessing the MTCA’s official website before proceeding with any online communication.
The statement comes after a string of warnings on fraudulent websites and scam messages, including from the Local Enforcement System Agency (LESA) and the Malta Financial Services Authority (MFSA).
