Malta welcomes 857,857 visitors in second quarter of 2026

Malta has welcomed 857,857 guests in the second quarter of 2026, according to figures released by the National Statistics Office on Monday.

The NSO report covered the period April to June 2026.

The statistics show total guests in collective accommodation establishments reached 857,857, while total nights spent amounted to 3,613,049.

Four-star hotels accounted for the largest share of guest nights, taking 48.2% of the total.

The average length of stay eased slightly to 4.2 nights, down from the same quarter last year, while the net use of bed-placed stood at 71.3%, a drop of 0.3 percentage points on the corresponding quarter of 2025.

As of June 2026, Malta had 368 active collective accommodation establishments, offering a combined 24,355 bedrooms and 56,329 bed-places.

Broken down by region, Malta alone welcomed 815,688 guests, a rise of 12.7% on the second quarter of 2025, with nights spent going up 8.9% to 3,498,261.

Gozo and Comino also saw growth, with guests up 12.6% to 42,169 and nights spent rising 13.5% to 114,788.

Growth in five-star nights was strongest in Gozo and Comino, even though four-star hotels remain the largest share of guest nights across the country.

The average length of stay in Malta dipped slightly to 4.3 nights, while in Gozo and Comino it held steady at 2.7 nights, matching last year's figure.

Net occupancy in Malta fell by 0.2 percentage points to 72.5%, while in Gozo and Comino it dropped by 1.7 percentage points to 47.8%.
