Hiker rescued after sustaining foot injury at Wied Babu

Civil Protection Department rescuers from Stations 1, 5 and 8 responded to Wied Babu in Żurrieq after a person sustained a foot injury while hiking in the area.

Rescuers from Stations 1 and 8 launched a search operation, supported by drone operations, and located the casualty.

Due to the difficult access to the area, rescuers determined that evacuation by sea was the safest and most efficient option.

The casualty was treated at the scene by a medical team from the Emergency Department at Mater Dei Hospital before being transferred aboard the CPD vessel Manuċċa.

The casualty was then handed over to the medical team for transport to hospital.
