The Labour Party's Electoral Commission has received 36 nominations for positions within the party's Administration and National Executive.

There will be no contest for the Administration, while 32 candidates will contest 12 posts as ordinary members of the National Executive.

Alex Scibberas has been nominated for president, Louis Gatt for vice-president, John Grech for international secretary, and William Lewis for organisational secretary.

Prime Minister and Labour Party leader Robert Abela thanked everyone who had come forward to help the party remain a strong political force close to the people.

The election for the National Executive will now take place during the General Conference, which is due to be held at the beginning of October.

This follows a strong vote in the party leadership, including for Abela as Prime Minister and Labour leader.

Voting for the ordinary members of the National Executive will take place over three days, including an early vote on 26 September at the Labour National Centre in Ħamrun.

Delegates will be able to vote from 9am until noon on 26 September, while voting will also take place on 2 October from 8pm to 10pm and on 3 October from 9am to 1pm at the Labour National Centre in Ħamrun.

In Gozo, voting will take place at the Labour Centre in Sannat on Saturday from 8am to 11am.

Delegates who wish to vote early on 26 September must notify the Electoral Commission by email no later than 8pm on 23 September
