Road connecting Mellieħa to Għadira closed after wall collapse

Triq il-Marfa remains closed between the One80 area and Triq l-Erwieħ whilst authorities carry out safety assessments after wall collapse

A road connecting Mellieħa to Għadira has been closed with immediate effect following the collapse of a section of wall, according to the Mellieħa Local Council after consulting with Infrastructure Malta.

"This precautionary measure is being taken while the situation is further monitored and assessed and the necessary safety checks are carried out," the council said in a statement.

The Mellieħa council said that Triq il-Marfa will stay closed from the One80 area up to the junction with Triq l-Erwieħ. They noted that Għadira residents can still reach the area through Mellieħa Bypass, whilst public transport has been redirected to Triq Edward Camilleri.

Transport Malta officials and police are assisting on site to manage traffic and ensure public safety.

The council said it will continue updating the public as further information becomes available on the structural assessment and reopening timeline.
