Jesmond Mugliett says Prime Minister has to choose one of two paths to follow

Nationalist MP Jesmond Mugliett insisted that the country's situation should not be ignored for much longer because the country's stability could be threatened with any further delays.

The Nationalist government was yesterday shaken up during a press conference when Nationalist backbencher Franco Debono publicly declared that he was prepared to cooperate with anyone but the actual leader of the Nationalist Party, Prime Minister Lawrence Gonzi.

On this topic, Mugliett said that this situation definitely was not healthy beneficial for the country's stability and should be considered as very serious.

Mugliett said that the Prime Minister can choose to go down one of two roads but Gonzi should be cautious with his decision as either could risky.

Frank Portelli, former candidate and Nationalist Party executive president, said that should Gonzi continue to refuse a vote of confidence, he should expect the Opposition Leader, Joseph Muscat, to call for a vote of confidence instead, “which would be worse”.

Hon. Mugliett do your partand all ye PN backbenchers. Do it the italian way, change the PN leader. Why should the PN mandate be shaken in this crucial moment. Push Gonzi to deliver and not only talk by making way for somebody else. To be fair with the Prime Minister he had his merits, but also a lot of demerits. So it looks that instead of anybody forcing a vote of no confidence, better Lawrence Gonzi realize his time has come and appeal to the NP appartus to choose a new leader. The sooner the better so Malta will be prepared for the big challenges ahead during this 15/18 months to the general election. I am not saying Franco Debono should have his way, but sum up all and consider what chances the PN stand to retain power if an early election is called. Election is not the solution, but a new PN leader. After all he committed two grave mistakes....voting against utility bills increase with vehemence, and challenging the people's will by voting against divorce. How can Gonzi still convince the maltese and gozitan electorate that he did this in the best interest of Malta? The only way for Gonzi is to quit and start enjoying his family. Members of the NP executive machine keeps your eyes open..... No vote of confidence or early elections are needed, but if Gonzi stays there, the NP is risking a lot and even Malta and Gozo.

There is no way you can escape the situation dear Gonzi. As Jesmond said: it's either you resign of PL will make you resign this time. Just remember that there is not just one against you but at least for, mainly: Jesmond, Franco, Jeffry and most of all John Dalli! Do not humiliate yourself further as you have lost the battle on many occasions but now you have also lost the war. Your name shall go down in history as the most arrogant Prime Minister this country has ever seen.
