Air Malta hires aircraft to operate flight to Budapest

Air Malta rents an aircraft and its crew to operate a flight to Budapest on Friday.

Air Malta owns 12 planes however it has leased two of its aircrafts after deciding to reduce its fleet to just 10 planes.

Air Malta rented a Boeing 737 and its crew from a foreign company because it did not have enough airplanes to operate all scheduled flights.

The airline owns 12 planes however it has leased two of its planes after deciding to reduce its fleet to just 10 planes.

This means that if one of Air Malta's planes needs to undergo repairs it will not have enough aircrafts in the midst of the busiest season.

Air Malta rented the Boeing 737 after one of its aircrafts was grounded and the airline had no plane to operate flight KM 521 to Budapest on Friday.

Sunday newspaper Illum is informed that the aircraft was rented out from a foreign company called Air Partner at the cost of €2,800  per hour.
