Malta condemns Syrian massacre in Tremseh
The government issues a statement to condemn last week’s massacre in the Syrian town of Tremseh and calls for decisive diplomatic action to stop the violence.

The government strongly condemned the massacre which took place in the Syrian town of Tremseh.
In a statement issued this morning, the government said that more than 200 men, women and children appear to have been killed in this latest atrocity.
According to United Nations observers who visited the town on Saturday, the attack, described by the Syrian opposition as a "massacre", mainly targeted army defectors and anti-government activists.
The government also urgently called for the UN Monitoring Mission in Syria (UNSMIS) to be allowed to investigate what has happened and establish who is responsible for the attack.
"These atrocious acts must not occur with impunity," the statement read.
Malta called on the International Community to adopt measures through the United Nations Security Council to bring this 16 month conflict to an end, through the effective application of the peace plan for Syria of the UN Special Envoy and the Arab League.
Foreign Affairs minister Tonio Borg said "Our thoughts are with the Syrian people, and all those who have suffered as a result of this latest atrocity."
He added that more than 17,000 people have died already. "The time has come for decisive diplomatic action to bring about a peaceful end to the violence. All members of the Security Council must shoulder their responsibility to bring this about."
