Cosmetic makeover prompts probe
A general makeover to the appearance of TV personality Mariella Pace Axiaq has prompted an investigation by the Medical Council over allegations of improper advertising
The Medical Council is reported to be looking into an advertising campaign surrounding the recent cosmetic makeover of popular TV presenter Mariella Pace Axiaq.
Pace Axiaq underwent a series of cosmetic surgeries in a private clinic in Istanbul, Turkey at the hands of a Turkish plastic surgeon who allegedly is being promoted for his services on local media.
The TV presenter admitted to Sunday newspaper Illum that she bartered her surgery in exchange for promoting Turkish surgeon Bulent Cihantimur.
The probe, launched by the Medical Council, was reportedly prompted by a number of complaints from local medical practitioners who questioned the legality of the promotion being given to the Turkish surgeon in a bid to lure Maltese clients to his clinic in Turkey.
Further complaints alleged that the surgeon gave consultations to Maltese clients in Malta against payment, a practice which is illegal given that Cihantimur is not registered with the Medical Council.
