The potential of human resources in Malta should be strengthened to create more wealth in the country, Labour leader Joseph Muscat said.

During a visit to the The Foundation for Human Resources Development (FHRD) in Floriana, Muscat described the foundation's structure as "unique" in Malta.
"Human resources is very important as it can resolve problems before escalating to industrial action," Muscat said.

He added that the government should look at human resources management as a tool to achieve "better results with less conflict."

Muscat also proposed that the human resources sector should be regularised in the same way as accountants are. He said this will not only guarantee their rights but also their duties.

The Labour leader noted that the party's Congress will outline Labour's roadmap for the creation of more jobs and strengthening of the educational sector when the congress meets next month.
