After four years, an eye appointment was set.

Sister newspaper Illum reports how it had conducted an investigation in 2009 into the waiting list faced by individuals seeking to obtain a simple eye appointment without having to resort to a private doctor.

The newspaper called several health centres around the island, and at the time it was told there were waiting lists ranging from several months, to two years.

I hate to say this but what do you really expect for nothing? This country is way over crowded and as I always said. "You cannot fit 5 litres of water in a one litre can". That is the price and the sacrifice you pay for having social medicine and that happens in every country that offers this system. In Malta it happens to be worse, because we are so overpopulated and most expect something for nothing. That is the way we are regimented to be. On top of all that, our FREE hospital and that includes doctors and nurses also have to attend to illegal immigrants which is getting to be a very heavy burden on this island. Blame our system on this one.
