The Ombudsman Joseph Said Pullicino has been asked to investigate the contract awarded by Air Malta to advertising agency BRND WGN.

Another agency, TBWA has asked the Ombudsman to investigate the tender process which they claim lacked transparency.

BRND WGN was engaged to organize the airline's advertising campaign  in Europe, North Africa and the Eastern Mediterranean region.

TBWA is also claiming that Air Malta carried out drastic changes in the original terms of the tender process. These changes are listed in a six-page document submitted by TBWA's CEO Bertrand Attard.

Why is any of this not surprising? Air Malta is sponsored and rightfully owned by the Government which is the TAX PAYER or so they say. Why is Air Malta's top management and that is including Louis Farrugia trying to hide what goes on at Air Malta? After Louis Farrugia is there to represent the Maltese TAX PAYER. Why the double talk by management?

At least they tendered contracts unlike the MFSA who award such on a friend of friends basis. Also what use is or sense of purpose does the Ombudsman fulfill? As he has no powers of enforcement to his findings?
