Support mounting for absentee ballot system

Over a thousand signatures have been gathered for a petition calling for the introduction of an absentee ballot system to cater for the thousands of Maltese living overseas.
A Facebook group has been set up in support of this initiative, which calls for Maltese embassies to double up as polling booths during elections.
Prime Minister Gonzi has expressed his support for the initiative, and public messages of support have also been forthcoming from both current and prospective MPs.

Well, I will give the right for voting for those who pay their dues in Malta.
With all due respect, but did we not forger that there are rules for those who are eligible to vote.
How long have they been living in Malta?
I will start a petition so that our ID cards will be changed as these are ID cards are more than expired. What about the national security?

Support from people living in Malta, no doubt.
Have they considered that a person living in the North of England would have to pay about £300.00 for a train ticket for the round trip to London and back.
THAT is a very expensive vote, Perhaps AirMalta can subsidise train tickets too!

ALL EMBASSY STAFF FROM THE EMBASSADORS DOWN TO THE LAST MEN ARE PLACED THERE BY THE GONZIPN CLIQUE AND A THOUSAND UNCONTROLLED VOTING DOCUMENTS COULD SWAY THE OUTCOME OF AN ELECTION IN MALTA. IT HAS HAPPENED BEFORE AND WILL HAPPEN AGAIN, ONLY THIS TIME WHEN THE PEOPLE HAVE REACHED THEIR LIMIT ON HOW MUCH THEY CAN BEAR ALL THIS MASSIVE CORRUPTION AND WHEN THE INCUMBENT GOVERNMENT KNOWS THAT THEIR END IS NEAR, VERY NEAR, THEY WILL DO THEIR UTMOST TO FIX THINGS. WE CANNOT EVEN BE SURE HOW MANY MALTESE HAVE DOUBLE ID CARDS THAT ENTITLES THEM TO VOTE IN MALTA AND IN GOZO - GONZIPN MADE SURE THAT OUR ID CARDS ARE OUTDATED FROM 2006 AND JUST NOW, JUST BEFORE THE ELECTION, IT HAS ANNOUNCED MASSIVE INCREASES IN THE FEES TO CHANGE ONE'S ID CARD. WHERE DOES THAT LEAVE US IN THE TRUST BAROMETER OF GONZIPN.

Another 'join the chorus' from Dr Gonzi, hoping that people would forget that he had all the time to act about this matter but invented a hundred and one excuses, of course putting the blame on the Opposition, to just do nothing to implement with what he is now conveniently agreeing to.Any brownie points for Gonzi??!!

Why hasn't Gonzi spoke about it during the last 8 years. I know its Joseph Muscat's fault.
