Updated | Gonzi to publish report with costings for all electoral programme proposals

Public discourse revolves around electoral programme proposals.

The PN this evening held a public discourse in Cospicua, forming part of the traditionally left leaning 2nd district. Ingrid Brownrigg will be the first female PN candidate ever to contest this particular district.

The Prime Minister tonight raised the bar by promising to publish a report containing the full costings of all measures contained in the electoral programme.

On the much discussed topic of tablets, Lawrence Gonzi promised that all books published by Maltese authors shall be available in e-book format for use on the government funded tablets.

"The value of these tablets shall be in their contents. We will be offering these tools to students and teachers alike. Furthermore these tablets will be leased from a particular manufacturer, who shall be contractually obliged to provide a more modern tablet every few years."

The tablets shall be available to all children attending government, church and independent schools.

"Our electoral programme is dependant on prudent financial management. This requires more employment and hence more income for the government. In the coming days we shall publish a study showing the full costings of all our electoral programme proposals," Gonzi said.

The Prime Minister reiterated his pledges to include a cost of living adjustment for stipends and the opening of an oncology hospital.

Attention will also be given to addressing Malta's high incidence of diabetes.

Se jintefqu 23 miljun f'xiri ta tablets u sena wara jew inqas jigu obselete. Dik serjeta u hsieb fit-tul?

The cheapest tablet around is in the range of €70 to €80. These type are gooud for primary but not for scondary students so what price range is gonzi looking at for secondary students? Still what about university students what would be the price range for their tablet ? One point to ponder is the fact that if leased the tablets have to be returned with all personnal data still burried somewhere in the computer which can be extracted.

The statement "Furthermore these tablets will be leased from a particular manufacturer, who shall be contractually obliged to provide a more modern tablet every few years" smells very much of pre-announced corruption. On what basis is the particular manufacturer being selected. will it be the firm of a particularly known IT supplier!!!!! I am sorry. Once bitten twice shy. This Government is not to be trusted further.

If onziPN's costings of its electoral program promises is as accurate as their budget financial projections, and estimates of major projects, then just double the amounts given !

OH! So long term lease contracts for depreciating assets are available. Now, tell me, all those that were saying in respect of Labour's energy plans that the private sector does nothing for free, will this lease reflect the cost of these tablets? Well, you will not believe this, but potentially censurable figures have been pouring out of a particular PN's rottweiler blog, putting the value of each of these tablets at a ridiculously high €375 each!! Time passes by, but bad habits remain forever. With these electronic gadgets getting more complex, and far better but spiralling downwards in cost per unit, where did these people get their prices from?? The usual suppliers!!

Did Dr. Gonzi get Dr. Konrad mizzi to do his costings? His Finance Minister and he himself are ALWAYS offtrack PROMISING SURPLUSES and getting DEFICITS.... and he is at it again! He promised a "Surplus" in 2010 in 2008 and is promising a surplus today in 2015! UNBELIEVABLE.... Gonzi, literally UNBELIEVABLE, not to be believed!
