Two men, 24-year-old girl in police custody after separate drug hauls

Two men and a woman are being held under police custody after two separate drug hauls by the police late yesterday afternoon.

Although the drugs hauls took place yesterday, the police only published the details about the operation late this afternoon, a full 24 hours later later.

In the first drug haul, a 22-year-old Marsa man was caught in possession of an unspecified amount of cannabis, cocaine, heroin as well as a number of smuggled cigarettes.

Part of the drugs were found packaged ready to be trafficked, the police explained.

In the second drug haul, a 27-year-old Marsa man and a 24-year-old Hamrun girl were caught with an unspecified amount of cannabis in their vehicle.

On duty Magistrate Antonio Vella was informed about the drug finds and appointed a magisterial inquiry according to law.

He appointed various court experts to assist him in the investigations about these cases.

The police investigations about these cases were continuing and the three young people were expected to be arraigned in Court in the next few days.
