MRA receives 2,087 applications for second PV subsidy scheme

The Malta Resources Authority (MRA) has received 2,087 applications for a grant on the purchase of photovoltaic systems for domestic use. This announcement was made in an MRA statement issued this afternoon.

The scheme, funded through the European Regional Development Fund, offered successful applicants a grant of 50% on the eligible costs up to a maximum of €3,000.

An initial subsidy scheme for PV systems issued earlier this year by the MRA was withdrawn after irregularities were discovered in some of the applications.

The MRA statement explained that the applications would now be processed and an acknowledgement would be sent to all applicants providing them with an application reference number.

Moreover, a list of applications and the size of the photovoltaic system they proposed to install will be put would be online on the MRA website www.mra.org.mt.

The MRA statement explained how a grant letter would be issued to those applicants who had satisfied all the requirements established by a Government Notice published in the Government Gazette edition of 22 July 2010.

Once the grant letter was issued, the applicant had a period of six months during which one could install the photovoltaic system.
