With the Super 5 jackpot set for €1,100,000 for todays’ draw, the police will be making frequent patrols in the vicinity of Maltco branches across Malta.

Although the Police from the Rapid Intervention Unit are detailed everyday to check all branches during the opening hours, when the Super 5 jackpot reaches high figures the police do frequent patrols and check anyone who looks suspicious.

Since people tend to play more when the jackpot is high, there is generally more cash in every branch, putting more pressure on the police to prevent hold-ups and to protect owners and clients.

So far this year there were four hold-ups and one that failed. The one that failed was on a Maltco kiosk in San Gwann and another Maltco Branch in Mosta in which €300 were stolen. The other hold-ups targeted two betting shops and a pastizzeria.
