A tenth of the proceeds of rock concert Gensna will be donated to the family of the injured worker who was seriously injured at the Malta Fairs and Conventions Centre (MFCC) on Monday, Gensna executive producer David Borg announced this afternoon.

Emmanuel Ronayne, 48, of Fgura, as well as three other men, was injured when a structure supporting the MFCC's tent’s lighting collapsed onto the stage on Monday.

He was reported to be in danger of dying due to serious chest and back injuries.

In light of the incident, the Gensna executive producer announced that a 10% cut of ticket sales would be donated to the injured worker and his family.

“The 10% cut had previously been envisaged for the Malta Community Chest Fund, but after consulting the president’s office, a decision was taken to donate the money to the worker – who after suffering injuries is no doubt in need of greater help,” Borg explained while paying tribute to the injured workers.

Asked whether Ronayne’s condition had improved since Monday’s incident, Borg argued that he was not provided with any additional information pertaining to the worker’s condition.

Following the structure collapse, this weekend’s shows were put into question, but Borg reiterated that Gensna would go on as planned as there are no safety issues.

“An architect has certified the tent and thrusts while the thrusts themselves have been moved to analyse whether they are installed in the right place. Moreover, prior to the start of rehearsals, an architect also certified the stage. There are no safety issues,” Borg continued.
