Members from the Civil Protection Department this morning were called to control fire in a bring in site under the St Julians Bridge in St Julians.

The fire, which police believe was arson, started just after 8.30am. First to arrive on the scene was a unit from the Rapid Intervention Unit that closed the street to traffic from both ways until the CPD arrived and controlled the fire in few minutes.

Three skips were damaged, two of them totally destroyed. The ones that were burnt down to ashes are the one used for paper and one for plastic while the one used for metal was partially damaged.

District Police are investigating this case as arson.
