Romanian teenager caught stealing from Sliema shops

17-year-old caught stealing from two shopping outlets in Sliema • Police inspector chases after girl after hearing shouts.

A 17-year-old girl who was allegedly caught stealing from a fashion store in Sliema was promptly caught by a Police inspector who was driving by.

Police Inspector Jonathan Ransley, who is stationed at the Sliema Police Station, acted instantly when he heard calls for help and ran after a young girl who had just robbed a Bershka outlet.

The incident happened at around 1.25pm. Inspector Ransley was on patrol with PC Steven Spiteri in the vicinity of Bisazza Street when he heard a woman shouting for help and saw a girl rushing outside.

Ransley got out of the police car and ran after the teenager, succesfully catching her near The Strand.

The teenager, a Romanian, had robbed another store including shoes, clothes and costume jewelry.

The case is now being investigated by Inspector Jason F. Sultana.
