In the Press: Temporary injunction stalls transport provider contract

A court has issued a temporary injunction that will prevent the government and Autobuses de Leon from entering into a contract for the provision of public transport. Island Buses Malta requested the injunction on the grounds that the Spanish company did not respect the terms laid down in the call for expressions of interest.

Head of the Privatization Unit Emanuel Camilleri testified in court to say that a technical report, recommending the selection of a company the issuance of a casino license, was not finished. This newspaper claims that this information is false and that the report was indeed complete.

Environmental NGOs have expressed disappointment at what they called a halfhearted inclusion of environmental issues in the recent budget. Issues include the uprooting of trees and the waste of rainwater to the sea.
