Update3: Italian tourist 'slightly injured'

A 61-year-old Italian tourist had the fright of her life when the taxi she was riding into was rammed by a truck shortly after 1.30 pm today at Racecourse Street, Marsa.

Police sources have told MaltaToday that in the taxi then rammed into a wall, overturning 180 degrees as a result.

She was taken in an ambulance to Mater Dei Hospital, where she was certified as suffering from slight injuries.

The taxi, a Toyota Carina car, was being driven by a 61-year-old Birzebbugia resident.

On the other hand, the unidentified truck was being driven in the same direction by a 52-year-old Pembroke resident.

The drivers of the two vehicles were not injured despite the head-on collision.

Police investigations on the incidents were still ongoing.

Just how does one get involved in a head on collision where the vehicles are travelling in the same direction? Then again, with taxi and truck drivers' reputation for excellent road manners, anything is possible.
