The security check put in place in parliament later last year has now seen the addition of a walk-through metal detector just outside the main staircase.

All persons entering parliament, with the exception of the members of parliament, have to undergo frisking.

Following a decision taken in November, anyone entering Parliament in Valletta will be frisked and have their bags checked by AFM members or police officers.
The new security measures were put in place to ensure that no weapons were carried inside the Palace where Parliament convenes.

Parliament reconvened this evening following the Christmas recess.

Backbencher Manuel Mallia was also present.
