GWU pensioners’ association calls on government, WSC to reinstate Valletta offices

The General Workers’ Union (GWU) pensioners’ association has expressed its concern at “the inconvenience that a lot of elderly people are enduring to use the assistance of the Water Services’ Corporation (WSC) office for the verification of the water and electricity bills”.

The GWU pensioners’ association lamented in a statement issued this afternoon that the WSC office at City Gate in Valletta was transferred to Luqa “without giving due consideration to the suffering that a lot of elderly people will have to pass through to go there.”

Moreover, “they also have to waste a lot of him waiting in the queue to be served,” the Union pensioners’ section warned.

On the proposed transfer of the WSC office to Blata l-Bajda, the GWU pensioners’ section insisted that although this would “slightly alleviate” the inconvenience that pensioners that elderly people were suffering, “a lot of the ordeal will remain there and will not be removed completely.

Therefore the GWU pensioners’ association has appealed to the Government and to WSC “to re-establish the same office in Valletta as it was previously”.
