Silent walk, commemorating migrant deaths at sea, to be held in Sliema

The silent walk along the sea will start from two points - the ITS campus, Pembroke at 6.30pm or Spinola Bay, St. Julians at 6.45pm - and will end at it-Torri, Exiles, Sliema.

A candle-lit walk will be held on Wednesday, 22 April, to commemorate and take a stand for the loss of hundreds of lives in the Mediterranean Sea.

The silent walk along the sea will start from two points - the ITS campus, Pembroke at 6.30pm or Spinola Bay, St. Julians at 6.45pm - and will end at it-Torri, Exiles, Sliema.

At Exiles, candles will be placed to form the phrase 'All Lives Matters' and petals will be placed in the sea as a sign of respect. This event is being organised to send a non-political message to the leaders and people around the world that it is time to take action and find solutions. This is not a protest but a peaceful action from people demanding that no more lives are lost at sea.

“Our message is one of unity and compassion. We want to tell the world that we care because all lives matter. It is time to turn our feelings of grief into action, come together and do something that really counts. Your presence will raise awareness towards finding a solution to this tragedy happening just a few miles away from our shores,” says organiser Damjan Attard.

People of all ages and backgrounds are invited to join this walk. Participants are encouraged to bring candles, flowers and signs with #All Lives Matter written on them. This event is organised by Alba, Damjan, Erika and Maria in collaboration with Duncan. For further information contact us on: 7925 2098 or [email protected]
