PN closed ‘sleaze kazin’ on police tip-off

The decision by the PN administration to evict its Mosta club bar contractor was motivated by a police tip-off about an imminent raid that was sure to have caused the party national embarrassment.

MaltaToday has learned that the tip-off came from ‘high up’ in the police force.

Senior PN sources revealed that the party administration had been warned many times that action had to be taken to stop the ruckus inside the Mosta club.

Last Sunday, MaltaToday revealed that the PN club had been transformed into a soho-kind of club, where girls would be found dancing around poles and on elevated cubes, while cocaine consumption by the patrons was the order of the day.

While the PN admitted that it did not involve the police after threats were leveled at the party’s district MP’s by the evicted patrons - to the extent that private security had to be brought into the club last Sunday in a bid to avoid any trouble as the Mosta district held its Annual General Meeting - it now transpires that the police had tipped-off the party administration to act before it raided the club.

Veteran club patrons had long been complaining to the administration that the club had been turned into a “brothel”, and that they felt they were not welcome anymore.

Some even complained that they feared for their own security in the place as the people who started to frequent the place were described as intimidating.

According to the patrons, the PN Mosta ‘office’ was suddenly converted into a Soho-kind of club where young women would be seen dancing around poles until late at night.

With black painted walls and an orange strip running along the bar, women would dance around stainless steel poles under glimmering light.

Large candelabras used to be lit above the bar, while high-tech club equipment was brought in, high alcohol consumption and blaring dance music was the order of the day.

Following the sudden closure of the bar, the contractor has now threatened to sue the party for damages, as his lease contract is still valid under law.

The party however, has already contested this claim, by stressing serious breaches of contract.

The club had been closed for some time shortly after the 2008 elections, and was reopened following a series of complaints by PN activists in the locality.
