PN’s energy policy ‘guarantees increased pollution, higher energy bills’

Labour Party draws attention to how PN government had raised electricity surcharge from 17% to 55% 10 years ago

The Nationalist Party’s energy policy is a guarantee for higher energy prices and increased pollution, the Labour Party said today.

Referring to the ‘10 years ago’ section in the Times of Malta, the Labour Party drew attention to how the PN government had raised electricity surcharge from 17% to 55% in 2005.

The PL added the same administration had then given its Cabinet a weekly €500 increase

“The policy being pushed forward by the PN leader is a guarantee of higher bills and increased pollution. Simon Busuttil has the same frame of mind that 10 years ago resulted in a higher electricity surcharge,” the PL said.

It added that the present administration’s decrease in energy prices increased disposable income by €80 million.

“The difference is clear: Busuttil is a guarantee of higher energy bills; Muscat delivers cheaper bills.”
