Labour accuses Busuttil of using national security ‘as political football’

‘Simon Busuttil against further airport controls despite calling for increased security’

The Labour Party has flagged contradictory statements made by PN leader Simon Busuttil who over security and passport checks.

Whilst calling for increased security on individuals trying to enter the country and casting doubts on whether access to work and asylum permits were the true motive, Busuttil yesterday voiced his disagreement with retaining the temporary suspension of Schengen rules pending EU reform.

The Labour Party said Busuttil’s position was contradictory, with the sole purpose of sowing fear and coming out against the government.

“Busuttil is trying to use national security as political football whilst the rest of Europe is united on such issues.”
