The Labour Party has challenged the deputy leaders of the Nationalist Party to publish invoices and contracts of work relating to their private properties.

The request follows a decision by parliamentary secretary Ian Borg to publish contracts of works being carried out on his residence following requests made by The Times of Malta.

“It is now Mario de Marco’s turn to publish the contract of works along with all invoices issued by other contractors who worked on his property,” the PL said.

The Labour party went on to add that the same request had been made to deputy leader for party affairs, Beppe Fenech Adami.

“Four weeks have passed and nothing has been published. This is the transparency that Simon Busuttil and his deputy leaders believe in,” it added.

In a reaction, the PN accused Labour leader Jospeh Muscat of “gross hypocrisy” for attacking de Marco over works carried out by Redmap Construction Ltd, claiming that Muscat “hid the fact” that the same company carried out works on Borg’s property.

Borg this evening told parliament that he had chosen Redmap to carry out construction works and also published related documents.

The PN went on to add that Borg’s property is “at the heart of a scandal” over a report by the Ombudsman published last year.

Accusing Muscat of “stooping to new lows”, the PN added that his chief of staff owned a company with Pierre Sladden – owner of Redmap Construction Ltd.
