Motorist injured after car crashes into field

A 29-year-old Nigerian man suffered serious injuries after crashing his car into a field in Triq il-Mosta, Lija on Thursday night.

The police said preliminary investigations indicated that the man from Mosta lost control of his vehicle, a Peugeot 306, hit the pavement and ended up in a field. The accident happened at 11.20pm.

The civil protection department extracted the man from his car. He was certified as suffering from serious injuries at Mater Dei Hospital.

A magisterial inquiry and police investigations are underway.
