A massive police raid in Marsa on Sunday evening led to the arrest of three men, who are believed to be involved in drug trafficking.

Heavily armed police officers raided a building in the area known as Is-Salib tal-Marsa, which is believed to have served as a den for drug trafficking.

The three men arrested during the raid were: a 34-year-old man from Hamrun, a 46-year-old man from Msida and a 29-year-old Libyan national residing in Marsascala.

Inside the den, several sachets of white powder, allegedly cocaine and brown powder allegedly heroin as well as sachets that supposedly contain cannabis all ready for distribution were found. Electronic scales and other related consumer goods were also found.

Earlier reports had suggested an ambulance had been called to the site, to treat a man who was found unconscious in the den, likely due to a drug overdose. Currently, the condition of the man is unknown.

Magistrate Neville Camilleri has been appointed to the case, and Police investigations are still ongoing.
