Infrastructure Malta has received seven offers from technical experts with an average value of €10.5 million to oversee the Gozo-Malta tunnel project.

The call for offers closed today and has nothing to do with the actual construction of the tunnel.

An international call for contractors to dig, build and operate the tunnel will be issued in the coming months.

Transport Minister Ian Borg said the roads agency was in the process of forming a team of experts to help plan and oversee works linked to the tunnel.

“This team of experts with various competences will be closely following every stage of the project to ensure it is implemented at the highest standard possible, safely and sustainably,” Borg said.
