Former Gozo minister and Labour MP Anton Refalo is expected to be charged in court over a serious altercation with his son at the family home.

Sources have told MaltaToday that the incident happened in recent days and involved WhatsApp messages sent by Refalo’s teenage son.

It is understood that the father objected to the messages and the two ended up in a brawl.

Refalo’s son is understood to have filed a police report over the incident. Sources said that the former minister also reported his son to the police.

It is unclear when the police will formally press charges.

When contacted, Refalo declined to comment.

After the 2017 election, Refalo was the Gozitan candidate with the most votes but was not given a Cabinet post. He was later appointed chairperson of Heritage Malta.
