Reporter discusses the decriminalisation of drugs

The forthcoming white paper on the decriminalisation of drugs to be discusssed on Reporter on its return on TVM after four-week break

After a four-week break Saviour Balzan’s Reporter will return to the airwaves tomorrow. This week, Balzan will discuss the decriminalisation of drugs together with justice minister Owen Bonnici, PN deputy leader Beppe Fenech Adami and Gozo’s OASI Foundation Director Fr Manuel Cordina.

The white paper on the decriminalisation of drugs is expected to be published this week however recent surveys by Eurobarometer show that only 14% of the Maltese support the decriminalisation of drugs for personal use.

The guests will discuss what is causing people to use drugs and the difference between recreational drugs and hard drugs.

They will also talk on how the new regime will control cultivation of drugs for personal use and whether the decriminilisation would lead to an increase in consumption.

Moreover, the services provided to drug addicts by organizations such OASI will be under the spotlight.
