Sixty-five Egyptian migrants repatriated from Sicily last night

Sixty-five Egyptian migrants who had landed illegally in Sicily two days ago were repatriated yesterday evening with two charter flights.

The flights took off from the Fontanarossa Airport in Catania towards Cairo.

“The repatriation which took place only one day after their arrival in Italy was possible due to the good collaboration that there is with Egypt,” the Italian Home Affairs Ministry said.

This collabotion, they added, had been improved after a meeting between Italian Home Affairs Minister Roberto Maroni and his Egyptian counterpart Habib El Adly on 5 May 2010 in Cairo.

When is Malta or rather the Maltese Government going to do the same?
