French police have said they have foiled an imminent terror attack in central Paris after arresting four people.

Media reports say that three men and one woman were arrested during a police raid this morning, during which a Kalashnikov rifle, a handgun and memory sticks were seized.

They were arrested by the Directorate General of Internal Security on suspicion of preparing an attack in Paris.

One of the men had already been sentenced to 5 years in prison in March 2014.

In November 2015, Paris was hit by one of the deadliest terroroist attacks in history when gunmen and suicide bombers targetted a concert hall, a major stadium, restaurants and bars, almost simultaneously - and left 130 people dead and hundreds wounded.

The attacks were described by President Francois Hollande as an "act of war" organised by the Islamic State (ISIS) militant group.
