Krishna C.C too Strong for Overseas

On Saturday the Cricket Summer league continued with two games. In the first Krishna C.C played against Overseas C.C.

The Krishna team batted first. The Overseas bowled and fielded as well as any team could and managed to bowl out the Krishna team. There were four run outs, they should of avoided running when the ball was going any where near lighting quick Sean Duffy who was involved in three of them.

Robert Krishna top scored with seventeen runs which included two boundaries. Joy Ghoseroy scored thirteen runs while extras were twenty four from the total of 94 runs. This was an incredible achievement for the Overseas. Mike Caruana took three wickets while Roger Bradley,Sean Byrne and Imran Masih all took a wicket each.
As incredible as the feat was by the Overseas, they managed another feat when they were batting.

They were bowled out for thirty four runs, with Shahil Memta top scoring with seven runs, actually extras were with eleven. Pragnish ripped through four batsmen in one over with unplayable Yorkers. Kevin Krishna and Robert Krishna both taking two wickets each while Nowell Khosla and Joy Ghoseroy took a wicket each. Krishna earned seven points for the win while Overseas took two. Mention must be given to Mattew Gillard who took the winning catch for Krishna and too Adam Caruana who was the only batsmen in the game who batted more then twenty balls.

The second game between Melita Betfair C.C and Marsa C.C had the later team batting first. Frank Spiteri led the way with his batting making thirty seven runs from thirty balls which included four fours. Simon Lavendar and Tony Slater scored sixteen runs a piece, while John Farrugia scored eleven runs. The Marsa team totalled 110 runs from their twenty overs.

Andy Naudi was the main wicket taker with four, Derek Ali with two, while Pierre Naudi and Adam Krishna took one a piece.
The Melita reply started in taters when they lost two main batsmen in Chris Riordan and Tim Wheeler without scoring. Dave Borg went in and salvaged the game battling hard and retiring on twenty three runs. Andy Naudi after terrorizing the Marsa team with his bowling now terrorized them with his batting scoring forty one runs and leading his team to victory. He hit five fours along the way.

John Grima chipped in with ten runs. For the Marsa team Sarfraz Ali took three wickets, Tony Azzopardi two, while George Agius and John Farrugia took a wicket each.
The Melita team earned seven points from the win to keep them on top of the standings with 46 points. The Marsa team earned one point and slipped to third place while Krishna with their win in the morning go into second place.

Next Saturday The Melita team take on Overseas.
