Mqabba leave it late to defeat Hamrun as Birkirkara register easy victory

Mqabba added more misery to Hamrun Spartans after they defeated them 2-0 yesterday afternoon. Mqabba had to wait till the final minutes of the match to take all three points from Hamrun.

Mqabba took the lead on the 84th minute when a shot by David Azzopardi was only partially saved by goalkeeper Ormar Borg, but Bojan Mamic was there to pick up the rebound and score.

On the 89th minute, Mqabba killed off the match with another goal. Ryan Zammit was there to pick up a rebound off a shot by Thiago Mazzitelli. Zammit's powerful shot hit the woodwork before going into the net.

With this result Mqabba join Mosta in eighth place while Hamrun remain joint-second from the bottom of the table after suffering their fourth defeat in five matches.

Marko Potezica was voted BOV Player of the Match.

Meanwhile in the other match of the day Birkirkara had no problem defeating Balzan Youths with a 4-0 victory.

Birkirkara took the lead on the 13th minute, Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza shot the ball in the direction of Haruna Shola Shodiya who then had his powerful shot beat goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri.

On the 42nd minute, Birkirkara's dominance prevailed as they doubled their score. Jorge Santos Silva served Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza who then scored with ease.

Birkirkara added their third goal of the match when Jorge Santos Silva beat goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri with his shot on the 69th minute after being set up by Shola Shodiya.

The fourth goal of the match arrived from Michael Camilleri after he headed the ball on the 90th minute.

With this result Birkirkara move up to fourth place while Balzan sit in sixth place in the BOV Premier League standings.

Jeane Pierre Mifusd Triganza was voted BOV Player of the Match.
