Hibernians register important victory against Sliema

Hibernians move just two points behind leaders Valletta after they defeated Sliema Wanderers 2-1.

Hibernians took the lead after just 18 minutes of play. Off a corner by Clayton Failla, Edison Luis dos Santos was in the perfect position to head the ball in past goalkeeper Henry Bonello.

On the 30th minute, Hibernians doubled their lead after Edison Luis dos Santos scored his second of the night thanks to a perfect cross from Edward Herrera.

Sliema managed to reduce the score on the 85th minute. A freekick by Daniel Miotev was not cleared to safety by the Hibernians defence to have Cleavon Frendo take advantage and beat goalkeeper Mario Muscat with his shot.

Edison Luis dos Santos was voted BOV Player of the Match.
