Hibernians maintain perfect record as Mosta defeat Qormi

Hibernians continued their perfect start to the season as they defeated Balzan Youths 3-2 .

Balzan took the lead on the 20th minute when off a cross by Christian Caruana, Elton Alexandre da Silva headed the ball in past goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri.

Hibernians were back in the match when the equalised on the 36th minute. Off a Jackson Lima corner, Adrian Pulis headed the ball home past goalkeeper Mario Muscat.

Hibernians managed to take the lead at the end of the first half on the 45th minute. Marcelo Dias served Andrew Cohen to have the latter score from close range.

The first half was not over yet as goalkeeper Mario Muscat brought down Renato Conceicao inside the area. Referee Adrian Azzopardi sent off the goalkeeper and Daniel Balzan replaced Adrian Pulis. From the penalty sport Elton Alexandre da Silva coverted to equalize.

Just five minutes into the second have, Hibernians managed to regain the lead. Off a Jackson Lima Corner, substitute John Nwoba headed the ball past goalkeeper Matthew Camilleri to give make the score 3-2 in Hibernians favour.

Hibernians were reduced to nine-men on the 72nd minute after Marcelo Dias received a second yellow card. Balzan also lost Malcolm Liari when he was sent off as well.

Andrew Cohen was Voted BOV Player of the Match.

In the other match of the day, Mosta continued their fine form when they registered their third consecutive win after they defeated Qormi 4-2.

Qormi were the first to find the back of the net on the 22nd minute when Gaitan Spiteri dribbled past a number of defender and slotted the ball past goalkeeper Justin Harber to give Qormi the lead.

Mosta had to wait till the 36th minute before they equalised. Off a cross by Bryan Agius, Danail Mitev headed the ball past goalkeeper Matthew Farrugia to make it 1-1.

Mosta managed to take a two goal lead on the 52nd minute when off a cross by Obinna Obiefule, goalkeeper failed to clear the ball and Firas Aboulezz managed to score.

Qormi reduced the gap on the 60th minute when Kris Thackray beat goalkeeper Justin Haber withhis shot.

Mosta killed off the match on the 80th minute when they made it 4-2. Off a cross by Obinna Obiefule, Ousseni Zongo scored from close range.

Danail Mitev was Voted BOV Player of the Match.
