Vittoriosa defeat Rabat in bottom of the table clash

Vittoriosa Stars defeated Rabat Ajax 1-0. The result for Vittoriosa gives them a lifeline to avoid the drop.

As for Rabat they remain at the bottom of the standings with just six points. This was their seventeenth defeat in twenty-one matches.
The match started with both teams attacking and on the 18th minute, Vittoriosa's Francisco Arriagada Mella had his attempt on goal go just wide.
A minute later, Rabat's Diego Carrillo had his powerful shot just scrape past the post.
Rabat's goalkeeper Pavle Velimirovic performed a great save on the 35th minute, tipping the ball over the crossbar.
Vittoriosa managed to take the lead on the 43rd minute. Off a cross by Gilbert Martin, Rabat's goalkeeper blocked the shot but off the rebound, Marcelo Pereira headed the ball into the net.
On the 54th minute, Rabat came close to scoring when off a corner by Diego Carrillo Pendas, the clearance was short and Joseph Caruana's close-range shot hit the foot of the post.
Both teams continued to have great goal scoring chances, but it would be Vittoriosa that were able to take home the precious three points.
