Sliema Wanderers finally secured an important victory as they came from behind to beat Mosta in a direct clash for a place in the Championship pool.

The first half lacked any proper goal opportunities with the only effort worthy of note coming from Sliema player Scozzese with his long range effort being neutralised by keeper Omar Borg.

Mosta took the lead on the 57th minute when Rodriguez Ekani put Babangida through with the latter beating keeper Glen Zammit with a low shot.

Sliema managed to equalise on the 71st minute when off a Pedrinho corner, Aidan Friggieri scored a brillian half-volley giving the keeper no chance.

Seven minutes from the end, Sliema scored the winner when substitute Junior Obaghemiro hit the ball past Borg to give Sliema a crucial win.
