Hibernians maintained their unbeaten record once again by beating neighbours Tarxien 4-1 at the Hibs stadium to go 17 points above Birkirkara who however are yet to play Valletta on Sunday.  The Paolites registered a win after previously failing to win in their last two matches.

Despite the score line, the Rainbows gave a very good account of themselves and it was only in the last fifteen minutes where they collapsed and concede two quick goals in the space of a few minutes.

The Paolites started the match immediately on the offensive and managed to open to score on their first attempt when Jorginho smashed the ball into the net after a good ball from Tarabai.

Tarxien deservedly managed to equalise shortly before the half hour mark when Hevia chipped the ball towards new signing Koli who shot past keeper Bonello to draw his team level.

After the goal Tarxien continued to work hard as a unit despite failing to create any goal scoring opportunities.

Before the break, Jorginho had to leave the pitch injured with an apparent muscle injury.  He was eventually replaced by new signing Luis Andre.

On 56 minutes Tarxien’s Vallecillo almost surprised Bonello with a shot from a distance forcing the keeper to make a fine save.

With Hibs looking unsettled and unable to create, they somehow managed to take the lead on the hour mark when substitute Luis headed the ball into the net off a perfect cross by Tarabai.

Nine minutes from the end the leaders ended any hopes Tarxien had of clinching an equaliser when from an Andrew Cohen free kick, Tarabai headed the ball behind keeper Debono.

Hibs scored the fourth goal on 89 minutes when Tarabai was brought down in the box, Failla converted from the spot.
