Qormi managed to finally register a victory after 12 attempts beating Mosta 3-1 to affirm their intentions to keep their Premier League status following the appointment of Mark Miller.  Following this defeat, Mosta have now placed themselves in dangerous waters and are only one point above the drop zone.

Qormi managed to finally register a victory after 12 attempts beating Mosta 3-1 to affirm their intentions to keep their Premier League status following the appointment of Mark Miller. 

Following this defeat, which was their third in four matches, Mosta have now placed themselves in dangerous waters and are only three points above the drop zone.

Qormi had a strong start to the game and forged ahead after two minutes when off a good pass from Alfred Effiong, January signing Alex Nilsson beat Mosta keeper Borg to make it 1-0.

Mosta managed to draw level on 66 minutes when Ian Zammit served Roberts with a low pass, with the latter driving the ball into the net with a powerful effort.

Qormi scored what had to be the winning goal on the 90th minute when Leighton Grech tapped the ball home after Alfred Effiong

With Mosta shocked, Qormi put the game beyond any doubt when from a cross by Alfred Effiong, Mosta defender Ousman Koli in an attempt to clear the ball away, instead ended deflecting the ball into his own net.

Meanwhile in another match being played at the Hibernians Stadium, Floriana produced a strong performance and came out easy winners in

what was expected to be a closer encounter between two teams vying for fourth place.

The hero for the greens was the Italian Matteo Picciollo who was returning to the team following a suspension and made his presence felt by scoring two of the three goals scored against Balzan.

Floriana now move on 24 points just one point behind third placed Valletta who are still to play Tarxien on Sunday afternoon.  Following this defeat, Balzan have now lost two of their last four matches.

Coach Oliver Spiteri was missing the injured Gianmarco Piccioni.

In their first attempt, Floriana went close to scoring through a direct Steve Pisani free-kick which was turned into a corner by Balzan keeper Sultana.

On 20 minutes, Sultana was again called into action when Samb, served by Picciollo had his low drive parried away.

Three minutes before the break, Floriana opened the score when off a cross by Vito Plut from the left flank; Picciollo beat Sultana with a neat header.

Seven minutes into the second half and Floriana increased their lead.  Steve Pisani put in a cross from the right side, which found the on -coming Picciollo who again beat the goalkeeper with a first timer.

With Balzan failing to reduce the deficit, Floriana finished off the match by scoring their third when off a Steve Pisani free kick, Conor Borg headed the ball into the net to make it 3 and easy for the greens.
