Hibernians defeat Birkirkara to win the BOV Super Cup

Birkirkara managed to take the lead as early as the 12th minute. Fabrizio Miccoli’s corner hit the woodwork before going into the net.

Hibernians managed to equalise on the 31st minute. Off a corner kick by Clayton Failla, Birkirkara’s Zach Muscat tried to clear the ball but unfortunately for his team, put the ball past his own goalkeeper Justin Haber to make the score 1-1.

Hibernians gained more confidence and they took the lead on the 42nd minute. Off a freekick by Clayton Failla, the Hibernian players rose high to head the ball in goal, but the ball hit a Birkirkara defender and made its way into goal.

Hibernians continued to press Birkirkara in the second half while Birkirkara’s Miccoli had a great chance to equalise near the end of the match when his freekick went just over the bar.
