The Maroons equalised on the 31st minute. Amadou Samb went on a good run down the left flank and delivered the ball towards Samba Tounkara who placed the ball inside the net from close range.

Tounkara scored again on the 51st minute. Andrew Cohen sent the ball towards the Malian player whose close range effort went behind Matthew Calleja Cremona once more.

Four minutes later, Gżira made it 3-1. Matthew Gauci brought down Samb inside the penalty effort and the referee ordered a penalty. From the eleven metres mark, Samb converted.
