Floriana made a good start to the match and could have scored after just 20 seconds. Lucas Vieira da Silva was played through on goal, but finished off target from in front of Matthew Farrugia.

Senglea replied on the 4th minute. Matias Garcia’s shot was saved by Ini Etim Akpan.

Garcia threated Floriana again a minute later. The Argentine fired a diagonal shot that was saved by Floriana’s custodian.

On the 13th minute, Vieira of Floriana drilled a shot that forced a good save from Farrugia.

This was the prelude for the goal as Floriana forged ahead on the 16th minute. Kristian Keqi’s diagonal shot gave Farrugia no chance.

Senglea were unlucky not to equalise early into the second half as Taisei Marukawa hit the post.

On the 52nd minute, Augusto Caseres fired a shot that sailed wide.

Four minutes later, Venancio’s effort from a free-kick was saved by Akpan.

Despite their efforts, Senglea failed to equalise as Floriana held firm to take home three important points.
