The BMX association has signed a deal with the government allowing the development of Malta's first indoor skate park. The development will be possible after parliamentary secretary for planning Michael Farrugia signed an encroachment agreement of a site in Pembroke.

The agreement was signed at Castille with BMX association representatives John Zammit and Karl Naja.

In comments to the press, Farrugia said the government was committed in helping different sports, even those which may not be as popular as other disciplines.

On his part, Zammit admitted that the Malta BMX association had been waiting for this moment for almost 30 years.

"When the proposed skate park will be opened, it will be one of the biggest in Europe," Zammit said.
