Netherlands progress to quarter finals

A 2-1 win over Slovakia with a goal in each half was enough for a strong Netherlands team to overcome a rather below par Slovakia side who however scored a penalty deep into stoppage time.

A goal after 18 minutes by Arjen Robben set the Dutch on their way with Slovakia missing two good chances midway through the second half.

However Snejder capitalized on a defensive error to make it 2-0 on 84 minutes.

Slovakia grabbed a consolation goal through their top scorer Vittek who converted a penalty deep into stoppage time to make it 2-1 for the Netherlands and confirm his status as joint top scorer with Argentina's Iguain.
