Malta features in three films to be aired in the US in 2011

The Unit has assisted films in which Malta features as itself and is integrated into the film’s story line. The films ‘La Medium’ and ‘Kammerspiel’ were both shot in Malta last spring, and are due to be aired on Canale 5 during prime time.

Over the past weeks, television production L’Omicidio Su Misura was also shot in Malta in the most recent project to be filmed here.

‘La Medium’ features numerous exterior locations and shots of Malta, whilst, ‘Kammerspiel’ and ‘l’Omicidio Su Misura’ are mostly filmed in prestigious houses in Malta , but will also feature a number of exterior filming locations.

The films are expected to be aired in 2011 in the US and will be distributed worldwide by Sony pictures. The thrillers with a running time of a hundred minutes each will be filmed in English and later dubbed in Italian.

The decision to shoot the three films in Malta was taken after Leader Film Company completed the filming of the episode of REX ‘La Maledizione del Caravaggio’ in Malta. It will be shown on RAI 1 in Autumn 2010. Rex has an average audience of seven million in Italy, and is viewed in over one hundred additional countries worldwide, twenty of which are European.

The MTA’s Film Unit participates in various film festivals such as the Rome Film Fiction Festival and the World Content Market in

Prague, with the aim of improving Malta’s profile worldwide as an ideal filming location for Malta based story lines.
